Our Students in Israel we help with love, need you to keep donating now!!!

A sincere real pleasure to meet you and excuse my directness of the letter , but the cause is huge and time late! The Ethiopian immigrant students of ours have been without Bar Mitzvot since the crisis hit a few years ago, and we are trying to rectify this asap!

And NOW_

Great news !!! The Ethiopian Bar Mitzvah is going ahead Monday 23rd April (Rosh Chodesh Iyar), as thank G-d many kind people have raised the funds necessary to make this special day for 30 young men.

Thank You Making A Difference Now! A Date And Invitations Are On The Way. WE Need Your Kind Help Now! For The New Year Already! And Mention Eli Sent You In Comments When U Donate!

We intend to use these funds to enrich the lives of the Ethiopian immigrant students who are in desperate need of tuition scholarships for residential high school education.

A scholarship costs NIS 10,000 per annum, equivalent to GBP 1,700.  Your gift will enable 10 youngsters to receive a quality education, as well as food and board for an entire year.  In addition, for those who have never had a Bar Mitzvah, the scholarship will include the purchase of new clothes, talitot and tefillin, and participation in a festive Bar Mitzvah ceremony.

I am very grateful to you and your colleagues.

Sincerely,

Dr. David J. Portowicz

The uniqueness of our projects requires a visit to first hand witness the life changing circumstances we have built for 1000;s of our youth with beautiful settings of love and education. Not undermining my personal Midnghtrabbi work reaching out to 1000;s at all hours in all ways to help them live inspired and successful lives!
Either way this is a cause that needs investment from us all and the Ethiopian students are a huge part of an even huger rehabilitation of the poor and needy of our people !

I would like to forward my other best friend Jonny’s letter, where he nicely sums me up and presents our cause well and with needed clarity!
“This is our friend Eliezer formerly known as Elliot Goldsmith aka the Midnight Rabbi formerly the X-box rabbi also goes by ‘lead guitarist of the Red Hot Kosher Peppers’ and occasionally Sir Schvitz Alot….. While staying out all hours saving lost souls etc…
Anyway, our friend Eli works at The Jaffa Institute – which is an amazing organisation providing housing, food and education for thousands of underprivileged Israeli children from Jaffa, South Tel Aviv and Bat Yam.

As we were all lucky enough to enjoy an amazing simcha in Israel – it seems only right that we give something back….
One of the programmes in need of help this year funds the Bar Mitzvah’s of 30 of the Jewish Ethiopian Immigrant kids from their Beth Shemesh Educational and Residential Center.
A Bar Mitzvah costs $944 per child and includes the ceremony, a new pair of Teffilin, a breakfast for the kids and their families and an educational field trip.
It would be amazing if you could help these kids who come from absolutely nothing and give them a really special day!
Attached is a breakdown of costs and some more info – Ethiopian Bar Mitzvah – 2011 and Ethiopian Bar Mitzvah Project – 2011 every dollar/shekel helps – so please let me or Eli know asap if you wish to take part in this massive mitzvah…
Thanks sincere and make a difference!
