Though these Days of Awe, as they are often called, are solemn, they are not sad. In fact, Yom Kippur is, in a subtle way, one of the happiest days of the year.

For on Yom Kippur we receive what is perhaps G-d’s most sublime gift: His forgiveness. When one person forgives another, it is because of a deep sense of friendship and love that overrides the effect of whatever wrong was done. Similarly, G-d’s forgiveness is an expression of His eternal, unconditional love.

Though we may have transgressed His will, our essence – our soul remains G-dly, and pure. Yom Kippur is the one day each year when G-d reveals most clearly that our essence and His essence are one. Moreover, on the level of the soul, the Jewish people are all truly equal and indivisible.

The more fully we demonstrate our essential unity by acting with love and friendship amongst ourselves, the more fully G-d’s love will be revealed to us. Moshiach NOW!!!

And now as we make our way towards Sukkot with Simcha, we work towards Unity amongst Jews, people, 4 types, 4 species, together to be one, listen here <-

Yom Kippur Is A Day Of Incredible Rachamim

Tomer Devorah discusses the various middos, attributes, which Hashem uses to rule His world and how man should emulate his Creator in each of them. The very loftiest heavenly sphere is called Keser. In Keser, the middah of complete and total Rachamim (compassion) reigns. The יג מידות של רחמים, Thirteen Divine Attributes of Mercy, emanate from Keser. Pouring forth from Keser is an abundant of heavenly mercy.
If a person sins, heaven forbid, he creates destruction in all of the heavenly spheres. However, Keser remains completely unaffected. This is because Keser bars entry to evil and its effects, including any prosecuting angels which demand punishment for sin. Only goodness exists in Keser.
From the perspective of Keser, every Jew is a gem. In Keser, a Jew’s deepest essence is revealed and it is plainly clear that his true, sole desire is to be close to Hashem.

Beginning Rosh Chodesh Elul, the world of Keser begins to be revealed and Divine compassion begins pouring forth. Over the next forty days, the light of Keser is increasingly intensified. On Yom Kippur the light of Keser is the strongest, reaching its peak during Neilah. That is why all Kedushos of Yom Kippur are Kedushas Keser, not only the Kedusha of Musaf (Nussach Sfard). By Neilah, when Keser reaches its peak, we repeatedly recite the יג מידות של רחמים.
On Yom Kippur the loftiest heavenly realm shines bright, pouring forth abundant heavenly mercy. It is an elevated, heavenly, awesome day. With our earthly vocabulary we can barely hint at somewhat of its incredibly sublime essence. We should make sure to utilize this day to purify ourselves with teshuvah, elevate ourselves above the mundane and draw close to Hashem.
